This October, German Vogue celebrates it’s 30th anniversary! The issue is HUGE, over 700 pages, and features famous Germans such as Bruce Weber, Peter Lindbergh, and my fave- Karl Lagerfeld. The spread below, shot by Lagerfeld, was inspired by Anita Berber, a dancer, whom he commented as being, ‘the Kate Moss of Berlin in the Twenties’. The high contrast black and white and dramatic styling make for very interesting images. Be sure to check out the full issue for more photos.

Perhaps it’s my excitement/anticipation for Halloween, or my appreciation for the slightly off-kilter, but this story in the new October issue of Harper’s Bazaar is BY FAR one of the most creative shoots I’ve seen in an American fashion mag in quite some time! No surprise there, as Tim Burton, creative mastermind, conjured up the looks. With pieces by McQueen, Gaultier, and Versace Atelier- it is nice to celebrate the artistic and avant-garde side of fashion. Burton will be featured at MOMA starting in November for a retrospective of his work- can’t wait to check it out!

Harper’s Bazaar october 2009 Issue: Magical Fashion
I recently had the opportunity to work with fashion stylist, James Valeri on a variety of projects for some upcoming publications. My first was assisting him on prepping looks and doing edit’s for the September Issue of the LA Times Magazine. We worked on this project back in July, and photographer Sebastian Kim shot the looks in LA the first week in August.
The current issue of the magazine is finally out, and the images look great!…

I love the romantic-muted lighting in the photos, and of course drool over the Balmain embellished blazer in the second spread.

Caulfield Preparatory hat, thermal, and button-down.
(L): Prada coat, Acne sweater and pants.
(R): Bottega Veneta sweater, Phillip Lim suspenders and pants, vintage gloves.
(L): Adam Kimmel overalls, button-down, and blazer. Vintage boots.
(R): Topman coat, Maison Martin Margiela sweater, Elder Statesman pants, vintage suspenders and gloves.
The men’s looks were inspired by the Great Depression. Think Dustbowl, Grapes of Wrath, etc…and I think that these images, while different from the women’s, are just as successful. It was hard packing up that Prada coat up after trying it around and walking around the agency!
